Huge thanks to Ollie Robinson from Team Wiggins for coming along to present the awards and talking to us about his time in Go-Ride and amongst the professional riders. He was just brilliant!

Medway Sport Award

We won Bronze for “Junior Club of the Year” @MedwaySportsAwards! It was a great night and thrilling to be part of the evening showcasing all the brilliant work of volunteers and professionals in sport throughout Medway.

Eleanor Oldroyd from Radio 5 was hosting the event and double Winter Olympic gold medallist Lizzie Yarnold was the guest of honour.

It was a truly amazing to share the evening with so many people who give so much time and energy to sporting endeavour. You really don’t know what’s going on out there. Inspirational.

Well done everyone involved in the club.

Deangate track racing

What an amazing morning we had over at Deangate Ridge Athletics Track on saturday morning. Well done to all 22 riders that came along and joined the fun. Looks like you all worked really hard, and had some excellent races – some real battles out there.

Many thanks to everyone that came down to help out and join in. And special thanks to Trish Davies who caught some amazing photos… check them out below, and at her Flickr page: www.flickr.com/photos/142481743@N08/with/35339378806/

The full results tables are below, with the results and scores from every single race! Congrats to Frankie Finch who took the win in the Cat A group, and to Henry Stevens who dominated the Cat B group. Hannah & Jake, and Joseph and Edward also got to stand on the podium in their respective race categories.

And a very special well done goes to young Edith Fautley, who won the Performance of the Morning award for her heroics in the final race of the day.

Even the adults got in on the fun and had a 4km scratch race at the end, with Phil narrowly pinching the win from Jamie on the line.

We hope you enjoyed the racing, and fancy doing it again sometime? There’ll be all sorts of racing happening next year, so keep your eyes out for local events.

The Siege at Leeds

Leeds Castle – Sun 12th Nov 2017

It’s called a Scarp. It is sometimes inlaid with bricks and stones and the steeper it is, the more effective it becomes. Opposite the Scarp is the Counterscarp and together these two ramparts form the basis of a defensive ditch used to keep invaders from the fortress.

I very much doubt that the grass embankment infront of me (tackled every lap instead of the unridable and muddy alternative route) was a Scarp or Counterscarp but it was bloomin’ big! Continue reading “The Siege at Leeds”

East Kent Cyclocross League

Newington Community Cross – Sun 15th Oct 2017s

Having completed one whole race already this season I thought it high time for a rest and decided to attend this week’s East Kent Cyclocross League as a spectator. (Any thoughts of racing had started to disappear upon waking and having to conduct a hungover search for a bottle of Gaviscon). Anyway, I preferred the mud, didn’t I? Today would be fast and flat and suited those who’d had a good night’s sleep. Continue reading “East Kent Cyclocross League”

Easter Weekend 2017

So with a four day holiday and fine weather, what should we do ? Extra rides of course.

Good Friday was the bonus road ride and an easy 30 mile ride was nominated. Nine riders showed up at the start and set out on a typical route through Iwade and Faversham to The Freewheel at Graveney. Top notch coffee and cakes – which is always a sign of a good ride. A few extra lanes were included on the way back through Kingsdown. Paul and Luke made the minimum distance 50 miles. Those from further through the towns up to 62 miles. Continue reading “Easter Weekend 2017”
